Pastel User Groups

Creating a set of access rules and permissions has never been easier. Define access rules per group, and then link users to the group.

Changes made to a user group affect every linked user.

See the table below for a list of standard user types / groups created by Pastel Accounting 2009.

Group Name	Access	Can be modified?
Supervisor	The supervisor or administration user has full access to every function in the Pastel Menu System. There must be at least one supervisor user in every company.	No
Full Accounting	Users with access to this level can perform all the accounting functions of Pastel including a year end procedure. These users cannot access the setup menus, create new companies or delete existing companies.	Yes
Update Batches	These users are permitted to enter transactions and updates their batches. They do not have access to higher accounting functions.	Yes
No Update of Batches	These users can enter transactions into batches, but they cannot update (post) or change (edit)their batches.	Yes
View Only	A view only user cannot modify or process data. They, as the name implies, can view reports only.	No

You cannot modify or delete the Supervisor and View only groups. However, you can create a new group and copy the settings from the supervisor or view only group, modify those settings in the new group, and then assign users to the new groups you create.

The other standard groups may be modified directly. It is possible to create new groups as copies of the standard groups as well.
